Fire
investigation is the process of determining the cause and origin of a fire.
This is done on an unscheduled, as-needed basis. During an
Investigation,
photographs are taken and any evidence that is found is collected and sent
to be analyzed by the Illinois State Police Crime Lab. Interviews are
conducted and witness statements are taken to help in finding the cause of
the Fire.
Immediately
following a serious fire, investigation becomes a top priority before the
physical evidence has changed or disappeared. The Huntley Fire Department
has two Arson Investigators and three Fire Investigators.
