District Information

The Huntley Fire Protection District (HFPD) encompasses an area of fifty-five (55) square miles. Our boundaries include the Village of Huntley, portions of the Village of Algonquin, Hampshire, Lake in the Hills, and unincorporated areas in both Kane and McHenry Counties. Along with a nine-mile section of the Illinois Tollway (Interstate 90).

The current District population is approximately 60,000 residents. The I-90 full interchange just opened up in November 2013 at Route 47 in Kane County after 2 years of work on this project. At the I-90 interchange and Route 47 in Kane County is the Prime Outlets Mall. This major retail area, with a 400,00 square foot shopping area and two adjacent auto dealers, draws thousands of shoppers from throughout the Chicago area. New businesses that are starting to break ground in late fall 2013 are a grocery store, fast food restaurant and a breakfast restaurant. The massive Del Webb/Sun City complex houses 9,000 + residents and is almost sold out. Home builders have seen an up swing in home building in Huntley again. Commercial and Industrial development exist along Route 47, Route 62, Jim Dhamer Drive, and Huntley Road. The New Centegra Hospital should start to break ground in April of 2014.
